People Will Often Ask, “Do Condoms Work?”

Do condoms work? This is a common question from young people and people who are new to sex. Do condoms work to prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases? The answer to this important question is yes. Condoms are the most effective form of birth control and protection from unwanted sexually transmitted diseases.

Condoms are the number one form of birth control on the market today, and they can be found in both male and female versions. Do condoms work in all situations? Well, the short answer to that is no. Nothing is 100% effective all of the time, but condoms used in conjunction with a spermicide are 99.9% effective, and the only form of birth control that is better than that is abstinence. Used correctly, condoms will create a barrier from both male and female fluids, drastically reducing the risk of contracting disease.

There are no silly questions, and when someone asks, “Do condoms work?” They are simply being responsible about their protection. It is important no matter what birth control method you use, to use it properly, and use it every single time you have sex. If you are not using a condom every time you have sex, than they will not work.
